Summary: Solidscape®, Inc. Targets Dental Industry.. MERRIMACK, NH, February 24, 2007 – Solidscape®, Inc., a leading provider of precision rapid pattern making systems, today announced the D66 digital dental modeling system to coincide with the Lab Day Chicago event in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The D66 is the second of Solidscape’s offerings targeted at the dental industry. Available immediately, the D66 digital dental modeling system is capable of producing high quality waxups for casting crowns, bridges, copings and other dental restorations. The system utilizes an (additive) drop-on-demand jetting process for creating castable wax-ups. This process delivers product with a highly consistent fit, margin fidelity and surface finish at an accuracy of 25.4µ per inch across the X, Y and Z dimensions. The D66 has an XY resolution of 5,000 dpi and builds with layers as fine as 12.7µ. As with all Solidscape systems, the D66 uses Solidscape’s acclaimed build material that is specifically formulated for lost-wax casting applications. This means no pitting from residual ash and no unexpected expansion or shrinkage. By incorporating a large 232 mm² build area, the D66 can easily accommodate a wide variety of dental restorations. The D66 maintains an open architecture design which allows it to be readily integrated into total rapid manufacturing solutions. And with its ease of use, high casting yields and the lowest cost per wax-up in the industry, the D66 is a price/performance leader. David Bothwell, President and CEO of Solidscape, said “The introduction of the D66 is timely because the restorative dental market is undergoing significant changes that include the integration of digital technologies. The D66 produces highly accurate wax-ups at a cost far lower than most systems and the open architecture design makes it an attractive component for integration into any digital dentistry solution.” Pricing for the D66 is $35,650 and includes a one-year warranty and a set of spare jets. Prices are FOB plant. Solidscape®, Inc., a privately held company, manufactures InduraCast™, InduraFill™, InduraBase™, the T66 BENCHTOP™ 2, T612 BENCHTOP™ 2, R66 and D66 systems in their facility at 316 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, New Hampshire 03054 USA.
