Contact: Summary: Solidscape®, Inc. Announces Settlement of Lawsuit Against Sanders Design International MERRIMACK, NH, November 11, 2004 - Solidscape®, Inc., and Sanders Design International, Inc. (SDI) announced today that a settlement was reached in the lawsuit brought by Solidscape in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire against SDI, Royden Sanders and Albin Hastbacka. Under the terms of the settlement, effective October 25, 2004, SDI, Sanders and Hastbacka agreed (i) to transfer all rapid prototyping or RP technology to Solidscape; (ii) to cease any further work in the field of RP; (iii) not to compete with Solidscape directly or indirectly in the RP field; and (iv) to terminate the License Agreement and R&D Agreement between Solidscape and SDI. SDI will complete any existing executory obligations. In addition, Mr. Sanders and Mr. Hastbacka have resigned from the Solidscape Board of Directors, Mr. Sanders has relinquished his rights to three Solidscape board seats and Solidscape has purchased all of the Solidscape stock owned by Mr. Sanders and Mr. Hastbacka. Solidscape will make a payment of $100,000. Mr. Sanders is an inventor and had founded Solidscape, formerly Sanders Prototype, Inc., in 1994. David Bothwell, President and CEO of Solidscape stated: “We are very pleased with the resolution of this case. Now that any lingering doubt regarding the ownership of the technology is resolved, and any competitive confusion is removed from the marketplace, the company can focus 100% of its resources on serving the growing rapid pattern-making/rapid manufacturing market.” Mr. Sanders and Mr. Hastbacka also expressed satisfaction with the settlement, indicating that SDI would now focus on its primary defense technology business. Solidscape®, Inc., a privately held company with over 1,000 systems installed worldwide, manufactures the T66TM and T612TM systems in Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA.
